Kids Room {Vintage Book Art}

Kids Room {Vintage Book Art}

Today i thought i’d share a project that i did for my kids room about a year and a half ago….
It’s been up on the wall for that long and is still in perfect condition… NOT an easy thing in the kids room right??!
So i thought it worth sharing!!

I started off with three canvases (that i picked up off the side of the road : )
–f.y.i. my projects that involve the sentence “that i picked up off the side of the road”, i DO clean things BEFORE i use them. Just to clarify!!! ; )

Anyways, back to the project.
I started with three canvases THAT I PICKED UP OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD : ) used mod podge to randomly stick down pages out of vintage kids books. I used the pages out of three books and chose to only use one book per canvas but you could just choose a theme or colour scheme and mix n match the books.
Then, put another coat of mod podge over the top, swirling the paint brush as i went to leave brush strokes.
While the mod podge was still wet i decided to add a few embellishments with buttons but i don’t think this is neccesary.

You see “Mr. Fun” & “Miss. Frills”??
It really does look like them! Except Miss Frills’ hair should be crazier!! : )

How cute are these ragdolls?
I’m thinking of making some to match : )

That dog looks like he has attitude! : )
And, Mr. Grumpy in the background… Love!!

And there’s Miss Frills again with her ducky!!!
Cuteness!!! : )

That’s it. Done. Easy peasy!!

The size of the canvases and the bright, fun colours immediately made a great improvement in the kids room.
I love the fun, vintage style and they really seem like they belong in our kids room! …some of the pictures are of a little boy (Mr. Fun) and a little girl (Miss. Frills) and the little girl is carrying a duck (ducks are Missy’s favourite!) PERFECT!!

So, now for a breakdown of the costing:

x3 art canvases–FREE
x3 vintage childrens books–25c each
Mod Podge–Probably used 1/2 pot, so NZ$7.00
Buttons–left over from previous projects
TOTAL: NZ$7.75 : )

I went to two of my favourite opshops (thrift stores) today & got some EXCITING things… i’m excited to share soon : D
